RECAP: Barbados Cross Continental Forum

Transformative moments and impactful strides made towards shaping the future of media collaboration

ICYMI: CaribbeanTales Media Group and Imagine Media International in association with the Faculty of Culture, Creative and Performing Arts at the UWI Cave Hill Campus hosted the inaugural Cross Continental Forum (CCF) in Barbados, April 15-19th.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our esteemed special guests, including Paul Garnes and CCH Pounder, and our valued partners: Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc., The National Cultural Foundation Barbados, Invest Barbados, British Film Institute (BFI), Canada Media Fund, Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, Discoverfilmtt and International Trade Centre. Thank you to our amazing facilitators: Agnieszka Moody, Joan Jenkinson, Simone Pennant, Dr Keith Nurse, Alex Lalonde, Delphine Lievens, Fela Oke, Joshua A. Edwards, Nathan Adabadze, Nicholas Davis and Nicole Brooks. Thank you to everyone on the team behind the scenes making our first CCF a great success!

Throughout the Cross Continental Forum (CCF) in Barbados, attendees engaged in a rich tapestry of activities including a welcome breakfast at the Accra Beach Hotel provided by Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. From captivating screenings of groundbreaking films like Ava DuVernay’s “Origin” to thought-provoking discussions on topics ranging from demystifying representation to distribution on a global scale. Delegates also took part in collaborative workshops, case studies, and dynamic Q&A sessions, all aimed at driving forward the agenda of global media collaboration. Thank you The National Cultural Foundation Barbados and Invest Barbados for hosting us at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. Additionally, the forum featured a Pitch Presentation to an esteemed jury, and a manifesto writing session and presentation.

Beyond the conference room, attendees bonded over shared experiences, forging meaningful connections and lasting relationships. From lively discussions over meals to exploring the vibrant culture of Barbados together on an island tour. The forum fostered a sense of camaraderie and community that will continue to thrive long after.
